Three Little Things I Enjoyed in Seoul
1. RIDING A BUS
Never considered taking a bus while touring around Seoul until my mom and I met fellow Filipinas who encouraged us to try it. We failed on our first attempt because we waited at the wrong bus stop and ended up going the other way. We went down and looked for the nearest train station. On our next bus ride, we were with my Korean friend so we didn't lose our way and realized that it was way easier and fun!
What I love about riding a bus is that you get to see the beautiful city. Unlike riding the train where most of the time you are underground seeing walls.
Riding a bus can be intimidating at first but it was pretty easy and simple. With the help of Google maps, I was able to navigate my way around Seoul. First, search for the location where you want to go and Google maps will show you options on how to go there. Of course, you will select the bus option. It will tell you which bus stop you should wait and the bus number you have to take. What I like about the bus stops in Seoul is that there is an English translation of the name of the bus stop and sometimes the bus routes as well.
Upon riding the bus, tap your T-money and enjoy the ride. Listen to the bus announcement for there is an English translation as well of the next stop. Press the button if you're getting off the next stop and tap your T-money again. Pretty easy, right?
2. EATING ODENG ON THE STREET
I've tried eating odeng in Philippines but for some reason, odeng in the streets of Korea tasted so much better! Aaaah! I really enjoyed it plus the free soup in a cup. Lakas maka-Kdrama! I will definitely spend a day eating street food on my next visit. Didn't get to do that a lot during my last visit.
3. SEEING BTS EVERYWHERE
The first time I visited Seoul was in 2016 and I had zero knowledge about the existence of BTS. But if you happen to visit Seoul recently, there's no chance you will miss them. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!! You can hear their songs everywhere you go. BT21 is everywhere as well! Gosh! It was heaven for an ARMY like me!
I went in October so it was Jimin's birthday month. I am not exaggerating when I say that Myeongdong was full of birthday greetings in a form of banner for him. Here's how it looks like:
There's a birthday greetings for Jimin in every alley of Myeongdong! Waaah! My heart.
You won't miss the greetings on train stations as well. Here's one of the few I saw:
Even bus stops got their faces as well! I failed to take photos of the other ads but here's one with JK, J-Hope and Suga:
I liked how I enjoyed different things in my second visit to Seoul. I can't wait to go back and discover more about this country. I can officially say that South Korea is my favorite country. Thanks to BTS, I fell in love with this country even more.
See you this year, Seoul! I am claiming it. I will come back this year!!
